I graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2010. I have had the honor of working with children in a variety of settings including schools, homes, and clinics. I have taken on a special interest in sensory integration therapy and continue to keep up on current research and education in this area. I have special training with the Handwriting Without Tears program to help your child achieve prewriting, printing, and cursive writing goals.
As a pediatric occupational therapist, I feel it is important to be creative and make therapy sessions as fun and playful as possible while working towards the goals set by the family. Working as part of team with the family and other professionals is imperative for increasing your child's functional performance and independence.

I have worked in the field of Occupational Therapy for over 25 years. Pediatrics is the area I have specialized in specifically because I am awed by children. Children have a remarkable ability to meet the challenges that life gives them. Their attitudes and outlook on life inspires me. I continue to learn many life lessons from the children and families that I have had the privilege to work with.
Throughout the years that I have been practicing occupational therapy I have worked in a variety of settings: neonatal intensive care units, follow-up clinics, acute inpatient programs, rehabilitation programs and outpatient pediatric therapy clinics. I have also worked with adults diagnosed with various neuromotor conditions which contribute to my understanding of life with a disability across the lifespan.
My philosophy of intervention is to provide treatment that elicits dynamic function (I believe in getting the children to work hard!). We learn what we actively participate in. I also know that education regarding disability is critical. When families and individuals understand as much as possible about the issues they are facing, they find creative solutions. I am here to provide information that will help families make informed decisions that work for them.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1981. I have a passion for learning so I have taken numerous continuing education courses. In 2001, I completed a training process to become a Neuro-Developmental Treatment Instructor in Pediatrics. This allows me the opportunity to provide continuing education courses to teach the Neuro-developmental treatment approach to Occupational, and Physical therapists, and therapy assistants, as well as Speech-Language Pathologists. I have also taken many courses on sensory processing, including the sensory integration theory course, and over the past few years have taught a course on Integrating NDT and sensory strategies in pediatrics. The courses and experiences I seek have helped me keep an open mind and made me aware that therapy, just like life, is an exciting journey.

My name is Erica Krause, and I am excited to be your child's occupational therapist. I thoroughly enjoy my job working with children and their families to develop and address the goals specific to each child's growth and development. I believe that you are the expert on your child. I am here to offer support through my knowledge and training to work with you in developing strategies for effective home program activities that can be integrated into your busy life.
My desire and passion for working with children and their families stems from my experience having a younger brother with special needs. My experience in having a sibling with special needs has given me the ability to empathize with families. I enjoy working with children to discover their strengths and abilities, while addressing their weaknesses and impairments to increase their independence and enjoy a fulfilling life.
In 2009, I graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Concordia University Wisconsin. I have experience working with children with a variety of diagnoses and impairments, in natural environments through the Birth to Three program and clinic-based outpatient settings. Striving to work with other members of the team allows me to learn from them and carryover their goals into my sessions.
A variety of strategies are incorporated into my sessions including NDT techniques, handling, Sensory Integration, and ADL retraining. I am dedicated to continuing my education and further developing my skills as a therapist through research in continuing education courses, and learning from other therapists, children, and families.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your child. Please give me any feedback along the way so I can best meet the needs of your child.
